Is Man Responsible for the Tragedies the World Faces Today?

"Even with all our technology and the inventions that make modern life so much easier than it once was, it takes just one big natural disaster to wipe all that away and remind us that, here on Earth, we're still at the mercy of nature"-  Neil deGrasse Tyson

The current catastrophe- The Covid-19, change in climatic cycles, unseasonal and untimely rains, flashflood, rising temperatures, melting of  glaciers and polar ice caps etc. -that have created turmoil across the world—and many other similar disasters—are undoubtedly the result of human actions. Recent flash floods in Texas, which wrecked havoc was termed a 100-year catastrophe by the American President. In India, the structures which stood for 100- odd years are crumbling down like pack of cards. Loss to human and animal life is countless. This is something never seen or heard before. The so-called “development” that mankind has achieved over the past ten thousand years is, in reality, a path of self-destruction. It is not progress but regress.

Fury of Nature

Tampering with nature is demon-like and has disastrous consequences. Man's greed drags him into ruin. For centuries, humans have witnessed that life is fragile and fleeting and that nothing we accumulate will go with us after death. Yet we find no refuge in this truth. No sooner does one returns from the cremation ground than he forgets everything—and resumes his blind race, as if nothing ever happened.

Such is the extent of his exploitation of nature that if humans were to be removed from the chain of life depending on the Earth’s resources, the planet would flourish far more beautifully.

What man ought to do is to use the Earth’s resources, not abuse them. He should leave the Earth livable for future generations.

Let us, therefore, learn to live in  harmony with nature, otherwise we will perish sooner than later.
